SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (October 18, 2017) – Officer Elia Lewin-Tankel was identified as the San Francisco Police Officer that was struck by a stolen car on Wednesday, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 12:30 pm on Turk Street near Van Ness Avenue. Officer Elia Lewin-Tankel and another officer were conducting a bicycle patrol when a stolen SUV driven by a 50 year old man struck Lewin-Tankel.
32 year old Elia Lewin-Tankel was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The driver of the SUV fled, but was later apprehended and identified as 50 year old Marquise Johnson. The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
