COMPTON, CALIFORNIA (December 24, 2016) – A 13 year old aspiring football player was paralyzed after a DUI accident on Christmas Eve on Susana Road, according to local news sources. (map)

The accident happened around 10:00 pm on the night of December 24th. Elijah Johnson, a 13 year old boy, was riding in a car with his cousin heading down Susana Road near Maria Street. Elijah’s cousin began driving recklessly, running red lights and speeding, and ended up flipping over and striking a pole.

Elijah Johnson had to be extricated from the wrecked vehicle and was rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries. After several surgeries and procedures, he is in stable condition but is paralyzed from the shoulders down. Elijah’s cousin was arrested after the accident for driving while intoxicated.
