The CHP reported that a wrong-way driver was traveling southbound in a northbound lane on the I-405 around 4:10 a.m. when his vehicle struck oncoming traffic head-on. The driver was identified by the Orange County coroner’s office as Jose Garcia Lopez.

The CHP states that the accident involved a 29-year-old man driving a 2001 Ford and a 36-year-old man driving a 2004 Ford. The 2004 Ford engulfed in flames and both motorists were pronounced dead at the scene.
