Dr. Mark Zareski Identified as Second Fatality in San Diego Plane Crash

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (December 9, 2017) – A well known Torrance veterinarian, Dr. Mark Zareski, was confirmed to be the second fatality as a result of Saturday’s plane crash in San Diego. (map)

The accident happened around 4:30 pm on Saturday. A small Beechcraft Bonanza took off from the Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport carrying four people. Four minutes after takeoff, the pilot reported engine failure, and he attempted to land in a baseball field. The plane skidded across the field and into the yard of a house in the 6000 block of Chandler Drive. The plane came to rest after crashing into the home, and the plane and home caught on fire.

Dr. Mark Zareski, a well known veterinarian in the Torrance area, was confirmed to be one of the two killed. Robert Stelling from New York was also tragically killed. Robert’s wife Dawn escaped the plane crash with injuries, as did the pilot.

The cause of the plane crash is still under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability. Updates are still being released at this time, and HWG Law is still looking into this horrible tragedy.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from HWG Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
