“Motorcycle vs. Vehicle Collision”
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (August 29, 2017) – 46-year-old Frank Richards Jr. was involved in a vehicle collision while on Union Avenue near Adams Street Saturday evening August 26th, according to the California Highway Patrol. (map)
The accident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. Richards was traveling northbound on Union Avenue when the driver of at 1995 Honda Odyssey, later identified as 24-year-old Thalia Aldaz, made a left turn and struck a raised curb of the center divider. The impact from the curb caused the Odyssey to veer into the northbound lanes and collide with Richards who was ejected from the motorcycle.
Richards was transported to Kern Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries
Both Aldaz and passenger, identified as 50-year-old Jesus Ramos attempted to flee the scene but was later arrested.
An investigation concluded that drugs and alcohol appear to have been factors in the deadly collision.
