FRESNO, CALIFORNIA (December 26, 2016) – A small plane carrying two people crashed on Monday into the San Joaquin River near Herndon Avenue and Brawley Avenue, according to local news sources. (map)
The accident happened around 1:30 pm, shortly after the plane took off. The plane crashed into the San Joaquin River near Brawley Avenue and Herndon Avenue, just down the street from the Sierra Sky Park. The aircraft is described as an Express S-90 experimental plane.
Two occupants aboard the plane were both tragically pronounced dead as a result of the accident, identified as Chase Splan and William Huene. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability.
