The accident happened on Monday morning in the parking lot of Community Health Centers, located at 325 Posada Lane. 52 year old security guard Gregory S. Norwood was helping 77 year old Pedro Islasmejia maneuver into a parking spot in his 1997 Honda. As Gregory assisted the senior citizen, Pedro accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the Honda to jump forward, crashing into Gregory.
Gregory was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead. Pedro Islasmejia and his passenger, 67 year old Maria Cardenas, did not sustain any injuries. The accident remains under investigation, but authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from HWG Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
