ORLANDO, FLORIDA (December 8, 2017) – A Chinese national identified as Hou Xupeng, was confirmed to be one of the three victims killed on Friday after a small plane crashed into Lake Harney, according to an article by PalmBeachPost.com. (map)
The plane crash was reported around 11:30 am on Friday to local authorities. A King Air plane belonging to Commercial Training Solutions and registered to PlaneMarketing LLC was en route to the Orlando Sanford International Airport with a pilot and two trainees on board. The small plane reportedly crashed into Lake Harney for an unknown reason, vanishing almost immediately into the water.
23 year old Hou Xupeng, one of the two trainees on board the small plane, tragically died in the crash. Also killed was fellow piloting trainee Men Tao, and pilot Kamalesh Naik. The plane’s wreckage has not been located yet, although a seat and what appears to be a vest have been pulled from the lake.
The plane reportedly was owned by Commercial Training Solutions, but was still registered to PlaneMarketing LLC, a group that deals with buying and selling aircraft. The King Air involved in Friday’s accident is also listed in the “Recently Sold” section of PlaneMarketing’s website. It is unknown how long Commercial Training Solutions actually owned the aircraft.
The investigation is still ongoing at this time to determine cause and liability, and the NTSB and the FAA are already on site. Information is still being released, and HWG Law is still receiving updates at this time.
