“Aviation Accident”
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS (April 25, 2017) – A small plane crashed on Tuesday morning outside of Huntsville, killing at least one person according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 10:40 am on FM 980 when a twin engine Cessna reported oil problems and an engine fire. The plane, described as a Cessna 421, then crashed into a field, skidding across it and into a nearby pond where it landed upside down and became partially submerged.
Dive teams recovered the pilot inside the plane, who was confirmed to have been killed. It is unknown at this time whether additional parties were inside the plane, and the search is ongoing. The FAA and the NTSB are both on site to assist in the investigation.
