The accident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. when a 1995 Honda Accord carrying three people traveling eastbound on the 60 Freeway, slammed into the center divider causing the vehicle to become inoperable, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Honda sat in the traffic lanes with the lights off, when a 2016 Ford Fusion struck the Honda Accord. One of the occupants of the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle and thrown over the center divider.

Perez and two other occupants, one identified as 24-year-old Omar Arambula, died at the scene. The identity of the third occupant has not yet been released. It was unclear of who was driving the Honda.

The driver of the Fusion sustained minor injuries.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort Jose’s family and friends as they cope with such an incredible loss,” said the attorneys from HWG Law Firm. “The thoughts and prayers of our staff are with them, as well as the young people who were injured, as they try to piece together what happened.”
