Keith Curtis Killed in Small Plane Crash near Branson West, Missouri

BRANSON WEST, MISSOURI (December 19, 2017) – Keith Curtis was identified as one of the two people killed in a small plane crash in Missouri on Sunday, according to an article by KansasCity.com (map)

The single engine plane, a Piper PA-180, was en route to the Branson West Municipal Airport when it crashed about a mile northwest of the airport into a pasture. Witnesses said it sounded like the plane was having engine trouble before it crashed.

Keith M Curtis, 52, and Dawn Curtis, 45, were both tragically killed in the accident. Keith and Dawn had just gotten married on November 11th, and were described by friends as being happy and full of life. Keith had just bought the plane in July, shortly before he received his pilot’s license in August. The couple was from Gardner, Kansas.

Piper planes have been involved in an alarming number of incidents this year… 60 to be exact. And from those 60 accidents came a total of 20 fatalities, including Dawn and Keith Curtis. Piper is one of the leading manufacturers of aircraft, but the number of accidents is still high. Keith purchased the airplane in July from East Bay Construction Management Inc.

The investigation into Sunday’s accident is still ongoing at this time. The NTSB will fully investigate what caused the aircraft to crash, and HWG Law is still receiving updates on this terrible accident.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all the family members and friends of Keith Curtis as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from HWG Law. “The thoughts and prayers of our entire firm are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.” HWG Law deals with aviation cases, and has pilots and plane owners on staff.
