Saturday, May 29, 2021, West Covina, CA– Gilberto Morales, 24, ran a stop at a four-way stop sign intersection, causing a fatal accident. Morales collided into Kerry Walsh’s silver Honda Accord, when she was in the middle of the intersection driving south on Hollenbeck. Welsh was transported by ambulance to the hospital where she was pronounced dead the following morning.
Morales was arrested on suspicion of DUI and is currently in custody in a West Covina Jail, with a $100,000 bail.
Ms. Welsh was enrolled to attend Loyola Marymount University fall 2021 with a full athletic scholarship for soccer, The West Covina community is now centered on the Welsh family, supporting their well being during these difficult times.
