CALABASAS, CALIFORNIA (January 26, 2020) – Prominent sports figure Kobe Bryant was tragically killed in a helicopter crash along with his 13 year old daughter, Gianna, and 7 others while travelling to a children’s basketball game at his Mamba Sports Academy. Bryant was 41 years old.

The aircraft, a Sikorsky S-76B, was traveling from John Wayne Airport to Camarillo Airport when it crashed in Calabasas, California killing all nine passengers aboard, including the retired NBA player. Bryant played all 20 of his professional seasons for the Los Angeles Lakers and was one of the most influential athlete in the world. Bryant’s 13 year old daughter, Gianna Bryant, was also killed in the tragic death.

Other survivors include 14 year old Alyssa Altobelli and her parents, Keri and John Altobelli, Giana’s 13 year old teammate, Payton Chester and her mother Sarah Chester, assistant basketball coach Christina Mauser, and pilot Ara Zobayan. The aircraft was not carrying a flight data recorder or a cockpit voice recorder and there were no signs of engine or mechanical failure. There was no alcohol or drugs found in the system of the pilot. The crash is still currently under investigation by the FAA and governing bodies.
