sky combat ace had history of accidents

San Pedro, California (February 19, 2021), A 32-year old man was killed in a plane crash when the small plane he was piloting crashed at APM Terminals in the port of San Pedro. The plane was a single engine Piper PA-32 and had departed from Zamperini Field in Torrance around 11:47 am before crashing onto the 2500 block of South Navy Way shortly after noon.

The pilot, identified as Larry Edward Voit, struck a tractor-trailer cargo container on the yard as it crashed into the port, seriously injuring a man working on the ground as it crashed. A driver passing by pulled the pilot from the wreckage and performed CPR on him, along with area bystanders until first responders arrived, who pronounced him dead at the scene.

The pilot was the only occupant of the plane and it is currently unclear what led to the crash.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from HWG Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”

The incident is still under investigation and information is still being released at the time. It is unknown at the time whether alcohol or drugs was a factor in causing this tragedy.
