“Investigation Ongoing”
LODI, CALIFORNIA (October 30, 2017) – An early morning semi truck accident tragically killed at least one person on Highway 12, according to a California Highway Patrol report. (map)
The accident happened on the eastbound side of Highway 12, near Guard Road. Around 4:30 am, a semi truck driver swerved from the eastbound lanes into the westbound lanes. He veered back to his side of the highway to avoid a head on collision, but then lost control and began swerving erratically. The semi once again crossed into the westbound lanes, and struck a vehicle head on.
The driver of the car struck by the semi was sadly pronounced dead as a result of the accident. The semi truck driver was reportedly not injured in the accident, and the semi was hauling a double load of walnuts at the time of the crash. The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
