Michael Spinazzola was on board a small Piper Aircraft that took off from the Knoxville Downtown Island Airport on Tuesday, along with two others. The plane crashed around 3:18 pm, landing on top of a vehicle in the front yard of a home on Groner Drive. The plane clipped several trees on the way down, and may have struck a second car.
The three men inside all sustained injuries in the accident. Michael Spinazzola sustained an injury to his eye and trauma to his face, among other injuries. Michal is a registered pilot, but the other two men inside the plane were as well. It is unknown who was at the controls at the time of the crash.
