LOS ANGELES (March 18, 2018) – Emery Becker, motorcyclist, was tragically killed after a suspected DUI driver struck him.
Around 2 a.m. on Saturday, Becker was riding down the 5 freeway north of State Route 2 when he was rear-ended by a vehicle and launched from his bike. The unidentified vehicle instantly fled the scene. After this collision, the victim was able to stand in the number three lane on the 5- freeway, where he was then struck again by a second vehicle.
Becker succumbed to his initial injuries after the second vehicle impact and was tragically pronounced dead on the scene. Emery Becker, a Burbank resident and photographer by trade, was 25-years-old. The suspected DUI driver of the second collision was identified as Alexandra Silva and was taken into custody. She was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. Officials are still investigating the incident and searching for the first hit-and-run driver who initially fled the scene. It is unknown why the suspected DUI driver didn’t hire a car to take him home or stay put.
