NEW MILFORD: One Killed, Two Injured after Small Plane Crashes

“Investigation Ongoing”

NEW MILFORD, CONNECTICUT (August 11, 2017) – A flight instructor was killed and two others were injured after a small plane crash on Friday, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 9:47 am at the Candlelight airport in New Milford. A small Cessna C-172 was attempting to land on runway 17-35 when it crashed for an unknown reason.

The pilot, who was a flight instructor, was tragically killed. A female onboard sustained critical injuries and was airlifted from the scene. The third passenger, a male, was injured but able to climb out of the plane and walk 400 yards to a nearby home to ask residents to call 911, and his condition is unknown.

The accident will be under investigation by the FAA and the NTSB to determine cause and liability. This is the seventh airplane crash in Connecticut this year, and today’s crash marks the fourth fatality as a result of those crashes.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from HWG Law Firm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
