OAKLAND: FedEx Big Rig Involved in Fatal Accident on Interstate 880

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA (December 21, 2017) – A FedEx semi truck was involved in a fatal accident early Thursday morning on the 880 Freeway, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 3:00 am in the southbound lanes of Interstate 880, near 66th Avenue. A FedEx big rig towing two trailers and a sedan were involved in a collision for an unknown reason. The impact caused the Fedex truck to overturn, blocking several lanes.

The driver of the sedan was reportedly killed in the collision. The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability. The driver of the FedEx truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities, but it is unknown if they suffered any injuries in the accident.

Semi truck accidents are some of the deadliest on the road. Semi trucks have poorer visibility, take longer to stop, and are thousands of pounds heavier than regular passenger vehicles. It’s no surprise that semi trucks are responsible for many of the fatal accidents on the road today.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from HWG Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
