OAKLAND, IOWA(December 12, 2017) – A horrible accident in Iowa claimed the life of 16 year old Megan Klindt and 74 year old Donnie Hendricks, according to an article by the Associated Press. (map)
The accident happened around 7:00 am at a farm located off 480th Street. The Riverside County school bus had just picked up 16 year old Megan Klindt, and was backing out of her driveway when it lost control and crashed into a ditch on the opposite side of the road. The bus immediately caught fire, and it spread so quickly that Klindt and the bus driver, 74 year old Donnie Hendricks, were unable to escape. Kilndt’s sister attempted to break windows on the bus but was unsuccessful.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene, and extinguished the fire. Megan Klindt and Donnie Hendricks were both tragically pronounced dead as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time, and information is still being released.
