“One Killed in Salmonella Outbreak”
MARYLAND, VIRGINIA (July 26, 2017) – Produce Distrubutor Grande Produce LLC posted a recall notice late last Wednesday stating that they had stopped receiving the papayas from the grower in Mexico which had supplied the contaminated fruit. The identity of the grower and the regional area where the fruit came from remains unknown.
So far, one person has died, and 46 became sick across 12 states after consuming the fruit, according to a report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Twelve of those sick had to be hospitalized. Grande Produce stated that they were recalling all their produce that was distributed from July 10-July 19th. Grande Produce is working closely with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and other regulatory agencies in their investigations.
