Pomona Motorcycle Officer Hurt in Crash While Responding to Fatal Hit-and-Run
POMONA, California– A motorcycle officer from the Pomona Police Department was en route to a fatal hit-and-run accident, when he collided his patrol motorcycle with a Ford Explorer at North Garey and Garfield Avenues, just south of the 10 Freeway in Pomona.
The crash occurred at around 6:30 a.m. The accident was the result of a Ford Explorer turning left in front of the motorcycle officer, causing him to be thrown from his bike and suffer a massive head injury.
The officer was transported to the LA County USC Med Center, according to Highway Patrol Officer Rodrigo Jimenez. The driver of the Ford Explorer was a 22-year-old man from Pomona and it is unclear if he will be arrested. The accident is still under investigation by CHP investigators. Drugs and alcohol may have been factors in the crash.
“Police will need to undergo a thorough investigation to determine what caused the accident. Many motorcycle accidents are typically the fault of the driver,” said Attorney , founder of HWG Law Firm.
