“Deadly Collision”
SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA (March 2, 2017) – A white Toyota Prius and a semi truck were involved in a fatal accident on Highway 101 near Carrillo Street on Thursday evening, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 11:51 p.m. on the southbound side of Highway 101 (also known as El Camino Real) near Carrillo Street. A 71 year old semi-truck driver suffered a tire blowout, and began pulling over to the right shoulder. As he pulled over, he felt an impact to the rear of his vehicle. He pulled over and exited his vehicle, and found a white Toyota Prius resting against the guardrail.
The driver of the Prius, identified only as a male, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was identified as Jerry Johnson, and was not injured in the accident. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
