SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA (June 21, 2017) – Authorities are on the lookout for a motorcyclist involved in a road rage hit and run accident on the 14 Freeway near Newhall Avenue in Santa Clarita on Wednesday, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened just before 6am on the southbound side of the freeway. A motorcyclist was reportedly cut off by a Nissan Sentra. The motorcyclist and the sedan then became involved in a road rage incident that a nearby motorist caught on camera. The motorcyclist kicked the Sentra, which in turn veered into the motorcyclist in an attempt to hit them. The Sentra then lost control, striking the center divider and sparking before veering back into the lanes and into a white Chevrolet Avalanche nearby. The Avalanche overturned as a result of the accident and skidded down the freeway before stopping. The motorcyclist managed to remain on their motorcycle and fled the scene immediately after the accident.
The driver of the Chevrolet Avalanche was injured in the accident and was hospitalized. The driver of the Nissan Sentra reportedly did not sustain any injuries. The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
