SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA (April 9, 2018) – On Monday night, a Piper PA-24 aircraft bound for Las Vegas came crashing on to the Scottsdale golf course, killing Helena Lagos, 22-years-old, and five other passengers. (map)
At 8:45 p.m. a Piper PA-24 aircraft took off from the Scottsdale Airport and was carrying six passengers: Erik Valente, 26, James Louis Pedroza, 28, Mariah Sunshine Coogan, 23, Anand Anil Patel, 28, Iris Carolina Rodriguez Garcia, 23. The group of friends, all in their twenties, were destined for Las Vegas. Several moments after departing from the Scottsdale Airport, the aircraft came crashing down into the local Scottsdale gold course. Shortly after taking off, the plane went down into the TPC Scottsdale golf course. Tragically, there were no survivors from crash. The crash sparked a fire on the gold course and tragically, there were no survivors aboard the plane as a result of the crash.
It is unclear whether the single-engine aircraft was properly equipped to carry six passengers aboard, as it did. The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are currently investigating this crash to determine the cause deadly crash that took the lives of six people.
