Justin Gardner and Tyler Nielson Killed in Vehicle Crash by DUI Driver

LOS BANOS, CALIFORNIA (March 30, 2018) – Tyler Nielson, 17-years-old, and Justin Gardner, 16-years-old were tragically killed from a car crash after being hit by a drunk driver.

At 11:50 a.m. Sunday morning, a 2015 Honda, driven by Sabrina Distura, was traveling northbound on Interstate 5, north of State Route 156. She veered across the dirt median and collided with a 2008 Nissan that was driving southbound. Three teenagers from Nevada were in the Nissan and Nielson and Gardener were tragically killed as a result of the crash. The third 16-year-old sustained major injuries, including a broken hip.
Nielson and Gardner attended Nevada Union High School. They were part of a three-car caravan heading to Pismo Beach on the Central Cost for spring break.

CHP reports confirm that alcohol was a factor in the collision. Distura sustained moderate injuries from the collision and has been arrested on felony driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter charges.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from HWG Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
