Tulare County: Vanessa Torres, 6-Month-Old Baby Ejects from Vehicle in Fatal Crash

TULARE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (April 2, 2018) – Vanessa Torres, 6-month-old baby, was killed in a deadly vehicle collision Monday evening. (map)

An unidentified driver of a white pickup truck ran past a stop sign on the corner of 124 Road and 256 Avenue. A family of three was driving in a Honda Odyssey, swerved to avoid crashing into the pickup truck. As a result, the Odyssey collided head-on into a Nissan Altima. The force of the impact ejected the 6-month old baby outside the backseat window.

At 6:20 p.m., the Torres family was out shopping for baby Vanessa’s baptism that was supposed to take place on Saturday. Our sources indicate that Vanessa was not securely fastened in the car seat. A local resident asserted that the city should put a four way stop sign. This particular intersection is no foreigner to deadly accidents, and the city may be liable for poor road design.
