William Byron Cocke Killed in Georgia Small Plane Crash near Savannah

PEMBROKE, GEORGIA (August 28, 2017) – One of the three people killed in a plane crash on Monday has been identified as 42 year old William Byron Cocke, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened about 30 miles south of Savannah, in dense woods. The plane, described as a single engine Beechcraft Bonanza, was found about 150 feet from the Ogeechee River. The plane had been chartered by William Cocke and his wife, Catherine Cocke, to take them to Atlanta. Minutes after takeoff, the pilot radioed engine trouble to air traffic controllers just before the plane crashed.

William Byron Cocke was tragically killed in the crash, as was wife Catherine and pilot Randy Hunter. William Cocke was a prominent Atlanta real estate developer, and was the co-founder and co-CEO of CF Real Estate. Both of the Cockes were active in their community and
